How To Care For Your Automotive Window Films
Did you recently get your ride tinted? Not sure how to properly care for the films? Don’t worry, because here are some basic and simple instructions for you to follow in order to maximize the life of your automotive window films.
Before we get started, it is important for you to know that there will be a film dry-out time once the installation process has been completed. During the installation process, your friendly Solar Window Film dealer will remove as much of the mounting solution as possible, however, it is possible that a small amount will remain, causing small water bubbles to form and/or giving it a slightly cloudy look. However, you should not attempt to clean the film for 30 days after installation, as the water bubbles and the cloudy look will eventually dissipate.
Now that you are well aware of what happens after the installation phase, it is time for you to learn some kiat on how to maximize the life span of your new automotive window films:
- It is crucial that you always use fresh clean soft materials to wash and dry your window film surfaces.
- Although most glass cleaners will work well, a recommended cleaning solution for window film is 1/2 ounce of liquid dish soap added to 1 quart of fresh water.
- A soft cloth or a clean synthetic sponge is recommended for washing the window film followed by another clean soft cloth for drying.
- In order to avoid scratching the film, do not use bristle brushes, abrasive scrubbing sponges or any cleaning materials that may have been contaminated with dirt particles. This includes using different cleaning materials to wash the interior and exterior windows.
- Though it might not seem like it, some brands of paper towels are coarse enough to cause fine lines of scratches in the film, even films with scratch resistant, protective hard coat finish. While these scratches may be too thin to be seen at the beginning, they can damage the polished look of the film over time.
*Disclaimer: DO NOT attempt to clean the film for 30 days after installation.
